OUTREACH PROGRAMS Welcoming all as Neighbors The members of Calvary Episcopal Church have faithfully risen to the needs of others whether here in the local community, throughout the United States, or internationally. We have participated with gifts of our time, talent and monies. There are many projects we participate in that are familiar to our members. Calvary has many members who rise to the needs of the community on a daily basis. At present we are involved in the following outreach ministries: During the year we
receive requests for funds from other organizations that are considered
on an individual basis. Beginning in the fall of 2011, Calvary is working with Backpack Buddies, a program that provides food for the weekend for children who have been identified by their school as not having enough to eat at home. Calvary is partnering with Ressie Jeffries Elementary School to provide a packpack that is filled each week with nourishing, easy to eat foods for the child to take home for the weekend. Members of the congregation offer to sponsor a child (whose name remains anonymous) at a cost of approximately $20 per week. A designated team from the congregation buys the food and takes it to the school each week, where it is given to the individual children by school staff. |
